People often ask me what sparks my creativity. Honestly, there's a lot! Kids playing, their giggles and sweet voices, the garden's scent—even the earthy smell of soil...pine needles falling from our evergreens, and the gentle breeze that makes the ferns sway and the forest come alive with sound. I especially like clouds. They're not just pretty; painting them takes challenges me. But mostly, where I live is a huge source of inspiration. We're lucky to have five acres of old-growth timber to take care of. We bought it when it was pretty neglected. I won't go into all the details, but let's just say the blackberries and ivy had taken over most of the once-massive, beautiful gardens and the forest floor. We even stumbled upon a small building and an orchard we had no idea were there during our cleanup.
Thankfully, it's a family effort to tackle the massive job of clearing the overgrowth and restoring the gardens to their former glory. We're starting to see the fruits of our labor. Most importantly, my art benefits from it all, as the textures, smells, and beauty of our place we call Burlwood, truly nourish my soul.
