This is the place where I will be posting musings about "Burlwood" and the life that surrounds it - the studio, the property, activities and more. So come along with me into my wacky world and brain.
According to family lore I was born a creative. From a very young age I created with my food, made dolls from small bits of yarn, fabric, and Holly Hocks - yep, the flower - reused and repurposed items long before it was a trend and generally saw life differently than my three sisters.
My Dad was an accomplished artist and he fueled my dreams. He allowed me to sneak from the bedroom I shared with my older sister across the hall into his studio after I should have been tucked in and off to dreamland. The rule was that I was not to say a word. It was our world. Our kingdom of oil paint, water color, pencils, feathers, wood, wool, bits and pieces, bobbles and brushes, which sparked my imagination and artful experimentation. It was far beyond anything dreamland could offer.
Time passed. I grew. Family and commitments to career grew. When time allowed I sold some art at shows and galleries. The dreamland was dim but when I was able to enter, it was just as magical and inspiring.
In 2022 I retired. The dream took root. "Studio At Burlwood" is situated on five acres of old growth property in Oregon where I live and breathe as the creative I was born to be.
And NO! the studio is not nearly as neat and clean as the photos shows. This was taken just after it was completed.
